Something a bit different … but much the same.

A few weeks ago I was asked if we fancied doing a mix for KingDUB.com and as time is so precious at the moment decided to combine it with a long overdue StopThatTrain mix.

It’s no secret that Big-Fi Love Eastwood & Saint and here we set about updating one of our favourites from their Two Bad DJ album ina dubstep style.

Quick synopsis for those that cba to read it all:

Version Big-Fi vs Feral – D’Skasting gets a full official release on itunes
Direct downloads might not work for a while
Lots of new tunes being uploaded to YouTube
The site now has 2 rss feeds

1. Version Big-Fi vs Feral – D’Skasting (above) gets a full official release on Feral’s new album Girl With A Halo 2 and can now only be purchased via itunes. (I can’t for the life of me figure out how to grab the ulr but just search for Feral and you’ll be able to find it).

This of course means I’ll be deleting the mp3 download from the original release but I’ve uploaded a HD version on YouTube so it’s still available to stream in full … and don’t forget the Dub version is still downloadable here along with our Blue Monday dubstep remix ting.

2. Our web space hosting deal is just about to expire and I ‘m currently transferring over “www.versionbigfi.com” over to my control and that it points here “www.big-fi.co.uk” don’t be surprised if tings mess up in the meantime.
After a long hard think I’ve decided not to renew the hosting but go with file sharing sites for downloads… sorry about that but it really wasn’t worth paying out for when there are so many other ways of distributing music these days. Talking of which …

3. I’ll be releasing the next batch of tunes via YouTube, then when I have enough I’ll package them up as an mp3 album. This way I can release something new and do away with all the extra “baggage” of creating covers/dubs/versions etc and keep the music fresh, as and when it happens.
It’s great that the video/track can be embedded just about everywhere these days and listened to without having to leave the page in most, if not all of those dreaded social media sites that we all seem to belong to and as it’s probably my first place of call if I want to hear something I haven’t got both old & new why not embrace it?

4. There are now 2 rss feeds for the site one for all the site updates including the podcast and everyting else that gets posted & one for just version big-fi news & releases.

Home Office defends plan to monitor social network conversations

• Privacy campaigners condemn ‘centralised snooping’

Privacy campaigners expressed alarm today over government plans to monitor all conversations on social networking sites in an attempt to crackdown on terror.

A Home Office spokesman said that the internet eavesdropping plan, which would be set out in the next few weeks, would cover any social network that allows people to chat to one another, including Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and Twitter as well as internet calls on Skype.

He said the proposal would update existing plans to store information about every telephone call, email, and internet visit made by anyone in the UK on a central database.

“We have no way of knowing whether Osama bin Laden is chatting to Abu Hamza on Facebook. Or terrorists could be having a four-way chat on Skype,” he said.
